‘A Taste of Mercy’ fundraiser set for June 8

CirclesOur friends at Circles of Mercy have a special fundraiser coming up.

“A Taste of Mercy,” which will benefit the family services organization and honor past trustee Beth Coco, will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 8, at the Shaker Ridge Country Club, 802 Albany Shaker Road in Loudonville.

A variety of foods and beverages will be available for sampling throughout the event. Live music will be provided by Audra and Danica Nowosielski. Tickets are priced at $60. There is a reservation deadline of June 3.

Lake George club sponsoring polka festival

The Lake George Rotary Club will be one of the presenting sponsors of a new summer fundraising event, the “Lake George Polka Fest.”

It’s scheduled for 4 to 10 p.m. Saturday, June 25, at Scotty’s Lakeside Resort, 2896 Lakeshore Drive. Tickets, priced at $10 for adults and $8 for adults over age 65 (kids free), are available online.

The event will benefit Lake George Region Women for WIN, a support organization for women in need.

Oh, the band shown above? That’s the headliner, the Chardon Polka Band, a decidedly unorthodox group that mixes traditional polka music with pop music and covers of some of the top current pop performers’ work.
